I recently finished up a project for a design campaign. The goal was to create 10 pieces of work for a company in Sioux Falls (or local town for some of my classmates). I decided to choose Rosie’s Cafe in Sioux Falls to make 10 pieces for.
Rosie’s Cafe is a small mom-and-pop shop near downtown Sioux Falls. They serve breakfast and lunch Monday through Sunday. They don’t really have a strong campaign, logo, or papers to represent their brand. I decided that I could provide them with a stronger campaign that they could use.
I first started by rebranding their logo. I used a waitress with a dress that looked like a rose for the mark. I also added fonts that fit the feel of both the words Rosie’s and Cafe. I put this logo into a branding guide to make rules for logo use. I made a black-and-white, grayscale, and reversed logo that I could use across different medias.
The next step was making a menu. Rosie’s Cafe doesn’t have a paper menu, they only have a board listing the items that they sell. It is hard to read depending on the seat you’re in, especially if it is your first time there and your eyesight isn’t the best. So, I wanted to make a menu that was easy to mass produce as well as easy to read, so that waitresses could hand them out to customers. This was a big goal of mine, as most of their audience is older and may have a hard time reading smaller type.
After getting those items out of the way, I made some smaller things like business papers, table tents, and some physical products. I won’t show them all on this blog post since they appear on this website, but please feel free to check them out, since they look great! I might even bring these designs to Rosie’s Cafe to see if they would like a rebrand!
