PHOTOGRAPHY

I’ve always enjoyed photography as an activity. My dad enjoyed taking photos a lot when he was younger and when I was growing up, so I was quick to follow suit in his footsteps. Since growing out of it, he gave his old camera to me, and that is what I’ve been using to take photos of the world around me. I’ll tell you a little bit more about the camera I use, and show off some of my favorite photos throughout this post too!

The camera that I use is the Canon EOS 70D. It was released about 10 years ago, and my dad and I have been using it for about the last 9 years. It is a great camera and I love taking photos with it. I’d carry this camera around when I was younger and take photos at family events for fun. But now, I get to use the knowledge I learned in photography class and can now take amazing photos!

I took a photography class in high school, which was really helpful. I didn’t remember too much, but it did help me get better with using my camera. It was also just an elective class, so I didn’t care too much about it at the time. Now that I’ve gone through a college-level photography class, I have much better notes, ideas, and photos to show off from all the work I’ve put in.

There is definitely a lot of room for improvement with my photography skills. I need to remember what camera settings are good for the situations that are occurring around me. These things could be like light, temperature, position to the sun, reflections, and the overall mood or feeling I want to create with the photos I’m about to take. There’s always lots of things to consider.

I also want to get better at photographing people. I’ve always been more of a shy and timid person, so going up to someone to take their photo has always been quite the challenge for me. I don’t want to come off as creepy or rude, I just want to get a nice photo to capture the moments around me. Life is so beautiful, and photos help capture those beautiful moments.

I’ll be sure to keep practicing my photography skills. Even though going into the photography field isn’t my first choice at the moment, I could change my mind about the idea later on. Besides, being good with a camera is a good skill to have. It’s better to take a photo of something for you to use if possible instead of trying to find a photo that would work. You don’t even have to go out and buy a super expensive camera to start taking photos! Most phone cameras are pretty good, and there’s lots of cheap camera options for beginners. If you have not tried yet to capture the moments around you with a camera, I’d highly recommend it! Maybe you’d even find joy in taking photos.
