If you have not heard yet, I am currently working on a magazine as a part of a large project for graduation. In this magazine, we had to interview a subject of our choosing that is in the field that we are in. I’m going to tell you a little bit about what happened and what to expect in my magazine interview!
I spent a while trying to search for someone to interview. I wanted to interview someone at a place that I was interested in, to learn more about what they do, and if that would be an interest for me to pursue after graduating. I’ve always been interested in the work done at Big Frog here in Sioux Falls, so I turned to there to find an interview subject. I sent them a quick e-mail about how I was looking for an interview subject, and one of their teammates got back to me in a few days. His name was Bryan Buehner, and he is one of the team members working at Big Frog in Sioux Falls. He was a bit young for the design field, but that is what I am looking for, since my magazine is targeted towards teens and young adults.
Bryan has been at Big Frog for a few years but has had lots of design experience before working there. He showed me around the store a bit more, then we went to the back area in order to conduct the interview. (To see what was asked in the interview, I definitely recommend reading my magazine once it is published in the spring!) I was able to get lots of good answers and lots of content that I can use for the main magazine article.
I then took some photos of the Big Frog store. They taught me a lot about the machinery they use and how the designs they make become worn apparel. If you have never heard of Big Frog or checked it out before, I highly recommend visiting their store on the west side of town. So much stuff goes on there that is great for first-hand experience with turning an idea into a physical product!
Now that I have my photos and answers to my questions, I need to turn all of this stuff into something to be put into a magazine. The cover of my magazine will have a photo of Bryan on it, so I will need to make that photo look as good as possible. The content will be across multiple pages, so I need to make sure I have enough body copy, headlines, and call-outs when needed. It will be a bit of a challenge, but Bryan gave me plenty of information to work with, and I’m so thankful for that. Thank you again Bryan for taking the time to do an interview!
